This is a histological slide of the human herpesvirus-6 (HHV-6) previously known as HBLV, a type of herpesvirus, was discovered in October, 1986. Noninfected normal lymphocytes serve as a control and produce a negative reaction in this immunofluorescence assay. This test verifies that the lymphocytes have been infected by the virus.
