Hyperthermia treatment; drawing shows a woman lying on a table with a dome-shaped machine around the middle part of the body. The machine delivers heat directly to the treatment area.
Hyperthermia is a type of treatment in which body tissue is exposed to high temperatures to help damage and kill cancer cells or to make them easier to kill with radiation therapy or chemotherapy. Different techniques may be used for hyperthermia treatment, including placing the entire body or part of the body in a heated chamber or machine, as shown.
