Researchers are working to understand the processes by which HPV can transform a healthy cell into a cancerous one. This image shows a COS cell transfected with the HPV-16 E5 oncoprotein. Fluorescence red color represents E5, green represents karypherin-beta-3, and co-localization of both proteins is shown in yellow. The E5-transfected cell (green) is demonstrated on top of the image.
