Title: Human Ectocervical Cells
Description: Infection with certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV) is associated with various cancers, including cervical cancer. Researchers are working to understand the processes by which HPV can transform a healthy cell into a cancerous one. This image shows human ectocervical cells (HEC) expressing HPV-16 E5 oncoprotein. Fluorescence green color represents the E5 oncoprotein; red represents the nucleoporin p62; and co-localization of both proteins is shown in yellow.
